Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi Champions Women’s Empowerment at the Muslim World Women’s Summit 2024
KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian government has embarked on a dedicated journey towards achieving inclusive development, with a profound acknowledgment of the pivotal role women’s empowerment plays in driving the nation’s overall prosperity.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi affirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing women’s empowerment and societal advancement under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This commitment is epitomized through the Malaysia MADANI concept, a unique fusion of traditional Malaysian practices and innovative approaches aimed at addressing emerging challenges and uncertainties.
“In Malaysia, significant strides have been made in advancing women’s rights and gender equality,” stated Ahmad Zahid during his address at the soft launch of the Muslim World Women’s Summit 2024. Policies have been implemented to boost women’s participation in the workforce, improve access to education and healthcare, and safeguard women from violence and discrimination.
Highlighting the transformative impact of women’s empowerment, Ahmad Zahid emphasized that empowered women not only enrich their own lives but also catalyze positive ripple effects that benefit entire communities and nations.
The soft launch, aimed at paving the way for the summit scheduled for June, was attended by distinguished figures including Women, Family, and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad and Director-General of the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade, Latifa El Bouabdellaoui.
Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister, emphasized the importance of education for both genders, aligning with Islamic principles.
